What I've done

I started programming as a child in the '80s and never stopped. I've been a professional in the web industry since 2001, covering various roles, from project manager to software developer and tech lead.

Over the years I've built up solid experience handling projects for major players, from leading e-commerce platforms to worldwide luxury brands and top-level insurance companies.

1. 2024-present

   Software Engineer at Prima

   I'm a senior Software Engineer in a team in charge of modernizing the legacy system of the largest motor insurance broker in Italy.

   What my team accomplished so far:

   • rebuilt the internal knowledge on the implemented business logic that was lost due to the rapid growth of the company
   • set up a comprehensive suite of automated tests to serve as a guardrail for later refactors
   • increased the conversion rate by 1% just by upgrading the funnel to the latest version of the corporate design system
   • split a monolith into 4 micro-frontends
   • migrated the codebase from Elm to React to eliminate one language from the tech stack, reduce the cognitive load, simplify the hiring process and eliminate some risks of using a niche language
   • simplified the architecture, eliminating unnecessary middleware, removing another language from the tech stack
2. 2019-2024

   Tech lead at Abstract

   In this consultancy firm, I was the tech lead of several projects for Luxottica, the global market leader in the eyewear industry.

   Some projects we carried out:

   • Successfully bootstrapped a greenfield telemedicine system used by opticians in 3 continents to handle remote eye visits
   • Delivered a B2B e-commerce platform to effectively handle the pre-sale process during the corporate trade shows. The project featured a wow factor to match the positioning of the luxury brands involved, paired with the capacity to handle carts of 3000+ items without delays
3. 2015-2019

   Developer and Tech lead at Yoox/YNAP

   My team and I launched and maintained several e-commerce websites for some of the top fashion brands, such as Armani, Dsquared2 and Maison Margiela. The sites generated revenues of up to 200k euros per day.

4. 2011-2015

   Front end developer freelance

   I helped local businesses and non-profit organizations to strengthen their online presence.

5. 2008-2014

   Web marketing consultant at Viro

   For Viro, a market leader in the lock industry:

   • I designed and implemented the corporate web marketing strategy.
   • I created, developed and edited for 3 years the corporate blog, with weekly updates in 4 languages, as a powerful tool of content marketing
   • As the social media and community manager I dealt with online communities related to mechanical security topics.
6. 2007-2014

   Communication manager at Centro Antartide

   We ran several national awareness-raising campaigns, among which:

   • Vacanze coi fiocchi and Siamo tutti pedoni on road safety
   • the EU-funded project on water saving, Wataclick
7. 2004-2008

   Co-founder of Caffè Network

   Caffè Network was an agency specialized in the set-up, fine-tuning and monitoring of distribution networks for free press projects.

   We worked for some of the biggest players in the industry, like the newspaper City and the magazine Urban, both edited by RCS Media Group.

   We also edited a monthly free press magazine, “l’ammazzacaffè”, printed on table mats and distributed in pubs and restaurants.

8. 2002-2003

   Project manager at O-One

   I was an account and project leader of a web agency that worked with clients like Berloni, Kerakoll and Vodafone. My role dealt with customer relationships, business development and project management.
